Former H.B. Union High School District employee arrested on suspicion of having child pornography, police say
Long Beach police arrested a former Huntington Beach Union High School District employee on suspicion of possessing child pornography.
Police arrested Randal Stevens of Long Beach Wednesday in his residence in the 4200 block of East Fourth Street after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in July 2021, according to a news release issued Friday.
During their investigation, detectives gathered enough evidence to identify Stevens as the suspect. They served search warrants at his residence where they found “multiple items of evidence,” police said.
Stevens, 53, was arrested on one felony count of possession of child sexual abuse material and booked at Long Beach City Jail.
Los Angeles jail records show Stevens was released later that day on his own recognizance. An attempt to reach Stevens for comment was not successful.
Stevens previously worked as a contracted audio and visual technician for the Huntington Beach School District. As of press deadline Tuesday, HBUHSD spokesperson Hayley Berbower had not responded to messages seeking comment.
