Huntington Beach woman killed in fatal hit-and-run, sheriff’s department says
The Orange County Sheriff Department is asking the public’s help in identifying the motorist responsible for the fatal hit-and-run of a Huntington Beach pedestrian over the weekend in Stanton.
Lisa Underhill, 59, was walking in a crosswalk on Beach Boulevard and Lampson Avenue early Sunday morning when a vehicle fatally struck her, said Carrie Braun, sheriff’s spokeswoman. Underhill would have turned 60 this March.
The driver had fled the scene by the time deputies arrived at about 2:45 a.m., according to a news release.
Based on evidence gathered in the area, Braun said investigators believe the suspect’s vehicle is a 2007-09 Toyota Camry. She declined to say what evidence was found because authorities don’t want to compromise the investigation.
Investigators are canvassing and speaking to surrounding businesses to see if surveillance video caught the suspect on camera.
Those with information about a Camry that may have sustained damage should contact the O.C. Sheriff Dispatch at (714) 647 -7000. Anonymous tips can be submitted at (855) 847-6227.
