A man died early Monday morning after being struck by a car on Beach Boulevard in Huntington Beach, police said.

The driver, a 35-year-old man from Anaheim, remained at the scene and cooperated with officers.

It does not appear that drugs or alcohol were factors in the accident, Carey said.

Based on the preliminary investigation, the silver Kia was traveling southbound on Beach when the pedestrian stepped from the center median into the road.

The investigation is ongoing.

Witnesses are encouraged to contact traffic investigators Doug Demetre at (714) 536-5670 and Vishal Rattanchandani at (714) 536-5663.
