Fountain Valley seniors graduate as Barons, off to conquer in their next adventure

Fountain Valley High School’s graduating seniors donned caps and gowns for a commencement ceremony at Huntington Beach High School late Wednesday afternoon.

The Barons’ graduation moved over to the venue after last year’s took place in a drive-through format at Fountain Valley’s campus due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Cielo Chavarria gave a senior student address for the class of 2021. Tara Lam, the ASB president, was called upon to serve in the role of master of ceremonies, and choir student Miriam Serfezeu sang the alma mater.

Fountain Valley Principal Morgan Smith presented the Barons’ class of 2021, comprising 821 graduates.

“The world has changed significantly over the past four years,” Smith said in a statement on Wednesday. “The Baron class of 2021 has seen dramatic changes in the world, as well as on campus. They’ve handled it with grace and maturity. Our seniors have endured more than any other class before them, and we’re amazed by their resilience.

“The journey to this moment has been worth it because of this group of seniors. There is something special about what they’ve experienced in the past four years, but more importantly, who they are is significantly more impressive. I’m honored to have been their principal and look forward to watching them conquer the world after graduation.”
