Alzheimer’s patient walks out of Costa Mesa care home, police asking for public’s aid in search
The Costa Mesa Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating a 60-year-old man suffering from Alzheimer’s disease who walked out of a care facility on the 100 block of 18th Street at 8:45 a.m. and never returned.
Thor Wahlgren, 60, is described as a white man approximately 6 feet tall and weighing around 150 pounds. He has curly black hair, blue eyes and was last seen wearing a red and black short-sleeved shirt and brown pants.
He reportedly has dementia and has a slightly hunched back. According to a police report issued Thursday morning, Wahlgren is not thought to have a cellphone in his possession.
An employee at the facility where Wahlgren had been staying, Cross Creek Cottages, confirmed Thursday afternoon that, more than five hours after his departure, the patient had still not been located.
Costa Mesa police officers are actively looking for Wahlgren. Anyone who may have seen the missing man or who may have information regarding his location is asked to call (714) 754-5252.
