Huntington Beach council to consider several union agreements

The Huntington Beach City Council on Monday will consider agreements with three unions that represent more than 700 city employees.

The council will discuss a memorandum of understanding with the Huntington Beach Police Officer’s Assn. that will last through June 2023. The agreement will result in an average annual cost increase to the city of $1.25 million, which is an average annual budget increase of 0.8%.

The police union represents about 250 city employees, all of whom will receive a 4% base salary increase in the first year of the contract, and 3.5% base increases in the next two years.

The council will also consider a memorandum of understanding with the Huntington Beach Municipal Teamsters. The agreement will last through September.

The labor agreement is estimated to cost $944,512, a 0.6% increase to the city’s budget. The teamsters represent about 375 city employees, who will all receive a 3.5% pay increase.

Finally, the council will discuss a memorandum of understanding with the Huntington Beach Management Employees’ Organization, which represents about 100 city employees. The agreement will last through October.

The agreement will result in a projected cost of $430,439, a 0.3% increase to the city’s budget. Employees will receive a 3.5% pay increase.
