Work on McFadden Avenue bridge to cause northbound 405 Freeway closures
Part of the northbound 405 Freeway will be closed overnight at times starting Monday as crews continue work on the McFadden Avenue bridge, according to the Orange County Transportation Authority.
The work will require ramp, lane and full freeway closures on the northbound 405 between Beach Boulevard and Bolsa Avenue from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. weekdays through March 11. Detours will be in place.
Workers will be constructing falsework, or temporary framework structures used in construction, for the bridge, which crosses over the 405 between Huntington Beach and Westminster.
The bridge closed in August 2018 for rebuilding as the first of more than 18 bridges that will be replaced, widened or built as part of a $1.9-billion project to expand a 16-mile portion of the 405 between the 73 Freeway in Costa Mesa and the 605 Freeway near Rossmoor.
The new bridge is set for two lanes, a sidewalk and a bike lane in each direction. It formerly had one lane in each direction and a sidewalk on its north side.
