Saturday was a good day to head to the beach for some pickleball, a game that combines tennis, badminton and ping-pong.

Bolsa Chica State Beach in Huntington Beach was the site of a free event where participants could stick around for a bonfire afterward.

Paddles, nets and balls were provided, plus firewood, hot dogs and beverages near the main lifeguard tower and basketball courts.

Donations of canned food were accepted to benefit Collette’s Children’s Home in Huntington Beach.
