Mailbag: Mobile park residents anxious to own lots
Mobile park residents anxious to own lots
While I cannot speak for the other largely middle-class 145 families that live at Laguna Terrace Park, I can certainly thank the Coastal Commission myself for their thorough investigation of the rezoning plans. We want every “t” crossed and every “i” dotted.
We have confidence that like the 600 other California former mobile home parks that now belong to residents, ours will one day belong to us individuals. I wish to avoid all involvement with lawsuits, friction with neighbors, and have been patiently waiting for three years to have the opportunity to purchase my plot and to end the suspense.
Please carry on with all due speed.

Keep the coast and views open
Those advocating closing our coast to fishing, collecting, and about everything else make no sense. Fish and Game has always been able to protect our marine environment with effective regulations that are fully supported by all commercial and sports fishing elements. Fish and Game does not need a bunch of bureaucrats driven by environmental extremist to tell them how to do their job. Total closure of Laguna’s coast and all the other massive ocean closures from border to border is totally unnecessary.
The truth is, the driving forces behind these closures are not doing it to save the ocean or the fish, it is all about gaining power. It is just like the power grabbing goal of all extremist cabals in the environmental movement. Environmental extremism is nothing but an excuse for a giant power grab by the socialist movement that is bent on government controlling everything and everyone. At the last Candidates for City Council Forum, only candidates Kelly Boyd and Emanuel Patrascu stood up to the gang of local environmental extremists and supported keeping our coast open for all of us to enjoy. In responding to another question regarding view blockage, it was also Kelly and Emanuel that took a real stand to do something to preserve Laguna’s once beautiful public and private view sheds that are being wiped out by overgrown vegetation all over town.

Dancing in Laguna
I am having such a great time dancing at the Laguna Beach Woman’s Club and wanted you to know about it. The dance is sponsored by Transition Laguna and happens every other Monday from 7:30 to 9:30 pm.
A spacious, hardwood dance floor with a vaulted ceiling and a patio that overlooks the ocean makes this one of my very favorite places to dance.
With the lights turned down and the music turned up, you can really get into the energy of the place and the other dancers. You can let yourself go and move to the music. It’s very energizing and exhilarating!
There is a growing community of dancers that attends and they’ll make you feel welcome when you show up. The dancing is very unstructured and you can move at your own pace. It is very comfortable.
When I drive home from the dance, I feel very upbeat and energized. I’m always glad I came.
Now, I look forward to Mondays. You will too.
You can find out when the next dance is happening by going to the Transition Laguna website and checking the calendar at https://www.transitionlaguna.org/events.html.
The Woman’s Club address is 286 Saint Ann’s Drive at the corner of Glenneyre and St. Ann’s Place.
