Named for the kindly Peanuts cartoon character, Linus indeed possesses a quiet, gentleness in the body of a slightly scruffy terrier.

He arrived last month as a stray — dirty, matted and psychologically withdrawn. After flea treatment, skin medication and a cool summer cut, Linus began to come out of his shell. However, he remained reluctant to walk and sometimes flinched, as if in pain. A preliminary diagnosis of arthritis suggests medication may improve his comfort and mobility.

Even without treatment, he has become livelier and more confident on his walks. Linus is about 8 years old, weighs 20 pounds and appears house-trained. He is learning to trust people and would do best in a home where his physical needs and sensitive behavior are accommodated.
