FOA anniversary exhibits to close
There’s only a few more days left to view two special exhibits that celebrate the Festival of Arts’ 80th anniversary.
The exhibits, at foaSOUTH and the downtown Wells Fargo building, each feature a variety of art pieces and include historical memorabilia like images, posters and program covers that show off the festival’s long history in Laguna Beach, according to a news release. They will close Sept. 5.
“Wrapping up the Festival’s 80th anniversary this summer, these exhibits are a great trip down memory lane,” exhibit curator Pat Sparkuhl said in a statement. “It’s a great reminder of the Festival’s humble beginnings in 1932 and its journey over the last 80 years.”
One of the main attractions at the foaSOUTH exhibit is a bronze statue called “Baby Seal.” The statue, by Terry Thornsley, has been a favorite among festival visitors, according to the release. It is being restored and will return to the Festival of Arts grounds in spring 2013.
FoaSOUTH, 1006 S. Coast Hwy., is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and admission is free.
Wells Fargo, 260 Ocean Ave., is housing the exhibit on the third floor and is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
