Pet of the Week
Choky is an affectionate 3-year-old Pekinese mix who was surrendered by his owner due to a move.
Since arriving at the shelter recently, he can sometimes be heard crying softly in his kennel, probably overwhelmed by the drastic change in his circumstances. However, Choky is happy once he gets out for walks, trotting along sprightly in that inimitable Peke sort of waddle.
His breed does best walking with a harness, rather than a “choke” collar that can indeed produce choking. We wonder if this is how he acquired his odd name. Choky is healthy, neutered, house-trained and friendly with people and other dogs.
Come meet him and end his plaintive cries for a new and loving home. His adoption fees are discounted 25% all week, when you mention this announcement. The Orange County Humane Society is at 21632 Newland St., Huntington Beach.
