Remembering Professor

Rowland

UC Irvine dedicates the Rowland Hall Exhibit, highlighting the life and work of Professor F. Sherwood Rowland, starting at 1 p.m. with a lecture by Professor Donald R. Blake in the Student Center, Pacific Ballroom D, A311 Student Center, Irvine. A reception and toast follows at 3 p.m. at the entrance to Rowland Hall. Documentary Screening

Flashback Heart Attack

District Dance Festival

Come see Orchesis, Intermediate Dance and a few special guest performers at this year’s District Dance Festival at 7 p.m. at Newport Harbor High School’s Loats Theater, 600 Irvine Ave., Newport Beach. Tickets are $12 presale and $15 at the door. Tickets may be bought in the quad during break and lunch through Friday.

Trio Celeste

UC Irvine’s Claire Trevor School of Arts presents a Trio Celeste concert in tribute to Winifred Smith, one of the most significant supporters of the school. New York-based Trio Celeste will perform Beethoven’s Triple Concert with the UCI Symphony at 8 p.m. at the Irvine Barclay Theatre. Recycling Event

Crown Ace Hardware in Costa Mesa and (800) GOT-SCRAP team up from 8 a.m. to noon to raise money for Habitat for Humanity and awareness for Mother Earth. ‘Priceless’ Screening, Lecture

Move to Amend – OC Coalition sponsors a screening of “Priceless” and a lecture by John Goodman on the movement to create a Constitutional Amendment stating that “Corporations are not people and money is not speech.” The event is at 6 p.m. at the Irvine Ranch Water District headquarters, 15600 Sand Canyon Road, Irvine. Alex’s Lemonade Stand

Children’s Bureau, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit, hosts a Clambake from 6 to 10 p.m. at Oak Creek Golf Club, 1 Golf Club Drive, Irvine. Lemondrop Dance Club

OC BBQ & Music Festival

The O.C. Fair & Events Centers hosts the fifth annual OC BBQ & Music Festival, a fundraiser featuring more than 70 award-winning barbecue teams plus beer and wine tastings. Scott Slater, owner of Slater’s 50/50, has issued a challenge for teams to create a unique burger recipe fit to be served in his three Southern California restaurants. The festival also includes a concert by Sugar Ray, “American Idol” finalists and Mr. BBQ Pageant. The festival is from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $15 for one day or $25 for both. Children get in for $10 per day, with those younger than 2 admitted for free. Parking is $5 for general and $8 for preferred.
