Buildings are going purple for Alzheimer’s awareness

Well-known Costa Mesa and Newport Beach sites are being given a touch of purple this week in support of Alzheimer’s disease awareness.

The Alzheimer’s Assn.’s GO Purple OC campaign, which runs through Sept. 21, will touch landmarks throughout Orange County, including the Segerstrom Performing Arts Center.

The cities are turning buildings purple by shining colored lights on them or adding purple accents.

Around Orange County, Chapman University, the Angels and the Anaheim Ducks are participating.

The campaign is designed to encourage people to participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, set to take place from mid-October to mid-November at four Orange County locations: The District at Tustin on Oct. 18; Huntington Beach on Nov. 1; Laguna Niguel Regional Park on Nov. 8; and Angel Stadium in Anaheim on Nov. 15.
