Elvis Festival hails the king of rock
Thirty-seven years after his death on Aug. 16, 1977, Elvis Presley remains a celebrated figure at the Orange County Market Place.
Sunday’s 15th annual Elvis Festival in Costa Mesa featured all things Elvis.
The King of Cadillacs Car Show commemorated the estimated 100 Cadillacs the rock ‘n’ roll legend bought during his lifetime.
The “Elevated Elvis Hair” and “Piled High Priscilla Hair” contests judged “creative styling, presentation, volume, appearance and audience reaction,” a news release said.
Tribute artists ranging from ages 4 to 65 played on four stages, and food trucks dished out variations of Presley’s beloved peanut butter, banana and bacon sandwiches.
