Community Animal Network’s adoption events are sponsored by Russo’s Pet Experience from noon to 4 p.m. weekends at the Fashion Island shopping center.

The adoption cages are decorated with scary décor this month, and some of the cats are in costume too. The dogs for adoption are by appointment, and a pet-match service is available.

Our black cat Jet hasn’t spent all of his time in the darkness, as his little devil costume may suggest, because Community Animal Network is treating pre-cancerous lesions on his head, neck, chin and torso. The topical cream Aldara is being used.

Just like humans, older animals that have spent time outdoors and lighter-colored pets are at risk of skin cancer and tend to be diagnosed most frequently.

Local animals don’t have Obamacare, but they have people to care!

Donations made to Community Animal Network help provide veterinary medical treatments and surgeries to local animals that other rescues may turn away because of costs.
