Pet of the Week
Miss Sunshine is a happy and amiable young golden tortoiseshell cat.
She and her 1-year-old kittens, a petite torti female and a large orange male, have needed a foster family since Community Animal Network volunteer Mike Allen died a few months ago.
It’s not easy for any animal organization to find the help it needs. Too many animals continue to be born, and wonderful adult animals need help when owners die, divorce or can’t find housing that allows pets.
People don’t always consider how foster care is directly related to saving lives, nor can they relate to an animal charity’s dependence on monthly donations to provide services.
People can foster animals even if they have other pets. Rarely are diseases transferred from rescue animals that have been taken care of. Most of the animals that are sick come from hoarding situations or municipal shelters.
