Community Animal Network is hoping to get enough donations to continue treatment of a 4-month old kitten found injured in a car rental parking lot.

Employees at the lot at John Wayne Airport were shocked to find the injured kitten, subsequently named Fanny, under a parked vehicle. Her dangling leg was believed to be broken, and she had an oozing eye injury and cuts all over her body. Her appearance frightened workers into action, and they contacted the Community Animal Network.

According to feline veterinarian Dr. Elaine Wexler-Mitchell, Fanny’s injuries are consistent with climbing under the hood of a car and getting caught in the fan belt. Fanny’s eye is expected to heal, but it is uncertain whether her dangling leg will suffer permanent radial nerve damage and have to be amputated.

Community Animal Network is seeking to raise about $1,340 to cover the costs of Fanny’s recovery and continued veterinary treatment and care.

On Sunday, Fanny slept peacefully curled up in the adoption cage at the Fashion Island pet adoption event after Saturday’s long rescue and treatment day.
