Costa Mesa resident Mike Allen rescued a cat family left behind by a tenant. Community Animal Network was called to help find new homes for the tortoiseshell momma cat, whom Allen had named Chloe, and her kittens, Mocha (tortoiseshell) and Rusty (orange tabby).

The cat family has been searching for a permanent home for a while now, and the process has been discouraging when people ask, “Don’t you have any tiny ones?”

Chloe, Mocha and Rusty are well cared for while they wait for permanent homes. People

can make a difference in animals’ lives by adopting a cat, not a kitten, this year.

Network pet adoptions are held noon to 4 p.m. weekends at Fashion Island.
