Pets Of The Week: Nutmeg and Itsy

There are many valuable lessons that I have learned managing the animals under the umbrella of Community Animal Network, and that is why Nutmeg is to be adopted with his sibling, Itsy.

The facts are disturbing to acknowledge, but the truth is that too many of the network’s animals that were placed as single kittens into homes are no longer alive.

Why? Well, most of the people coming back to replace a kitten tell me that the animal was relentless about being let outdoors.

I was quick to realize that the best solution is to adopt kittens in pairs so they have an “equal energy playmate” to keep them happy and safe indoors. However, many tell me that their veterinarians suggest that if you have an adult cat to get a young kitten.

I do not agree. I suggest cats of similar ages and energy levels be adopted together to live happily indoors.

Handling difficult animal behaviors is what I do on a regular basis. That is why every weekend I teach in a feline pet-parenting class that covers successful introductions, house manners, command training cats and how better choices will lower the risk of certain diseases and medical treatments for any cat.
