The owner is a celebrity makeup artist and skin-care specialist who offers these and other services at her Laguna studio.

“My goal is to empower women of all ages and ethnicities with what I have learned over the past 17 years in the beauty, skin-care and fashion industry,” she said. “Makeup should be fun, not a challenge, and it should make us feel beautiful. When we look good we feel a inner confidence that shows.”

She was joined at the event by Laguna Beach Mayor Bob Whalen, members of Laguna’s Chamber of Commerce and “American Idol” contestant Schyler Dixon.

Charitable foundation is being launched

Maureen Allan, a Laguna Beach-based spiritual teacher and philanthropist, is launching the nonprofit Angels Among Us Foundation with its first fundraiser Thursday.

The fundraiser will aid the children of Bihar, India.

Allan said in a news release that she was inspired to create the foundation by her spirit guide Ascended Master Kuan Yin.

“I was being shown countless visions by my spirit guide Kuan Yin of the atrocious living conditions that the children in these areas are suffering in,” Allan said in the release. “I could feel the physical pain of their illnesses and the emotional pain of their suffering and hopelessness.”

The public event will held be at a private home in Laguna Beach. Included will be a group channeling session and reading by Allan.
