Around Town: New members for Laguna Beach Live! board
A retired teacher and former college president have joined the board of trustees for Laguna Beach Live!, a nonprofit that promotes music and organizes the annual Laguna Beach Music Festival.
Carol Reynolds, a former music teacher, and Juan Vázquez, former president of Santiago Canyon College, joined the 12-member board. Both play instruments and regularly attend Laguna’s concerts, organizers noted.
“Having them join us now is wonderful timing as we look to expand our education programs,” Laguna Beach Live! President Cindy Prewitt said in a statement.

Art4Kids gets funds for materials
Art4Kids Inc. has received a $1,000 grant from the Festival of Arts Foundation in support of its mission to bring art materials to children who have been hospitalized or have safety and welfare needs.
The Newport Beach-based organization, which announced the grant May 19, was founded in 2001 by artist and teacher Pam Schader. The nonprofit has helped tens of thousands of children who have been hospitalized, abused, orphaned or homeless in Orange County. It also delivers art materials to children in 15 countries.
“Children love drawing,” Schader said in a statement. “Their drawings interest us because they depict the child’s unique perspective of their world and provide a window into the child’s experience.”
