Beach Boys headline Festival of Music on Saturday
For the first time in over 10 years, Laguna Beach will open the Irvine Bowl for a concert, as KX 93.5’s second annual Festival of Music, featuring the Beach Boys, takes place Saturday night.
The evening of fun, fun, fun will be led by the band’s front man, Mike Love who helped his cousin, Brian Wilson, write classics from “I Get Around” to the Grammy-nominated “Good Vibrations.” The band made its Segerstrom Center for the Arts debut last December with a concert featuring holiday songs and Top 40 hits.
“We all hear grumblings about Irvine Bowl not being used more outside of Pageant of the Masters,” said Tyler Russell, the station’s founder, in an email. “I hope we can show, through our Festival of Music, that a successful, respectful show can be put on at our beautiful backyard venue, thus allowing more major acts to come to town, making Laguna Beach the music festival destination it deserves to be.”
The festival, which also features performances by 133 and Say Say, begins at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at 650 Laguna Canyon Road. Tickets are $45 to $225. For more information, call (949) 715-4859 or visit kx935.com.
