Laguna Playhouse lineup starts with ‘Footloose’
The Laguna Playhouse recently announced the lineup for its 95th anniversary 2015-16 season.
The season started July 8 with “Footloose,” a musical featuring songs by Eric Carmen, Sammy Hagar, Kenny Loggins and Jim Steinman. It runs until Aug. 9.
The artistic director’s choice for the Oct. 7 through Nov. 11 slot has yet to be announced.
Comedian Rita Rudner will star in the U.S. premiere of “Act 3,” kicking off Jan. 6 and running through the end of the month. The play tells the story of a couple whose marriage deteriorates as secrets are revealed.
Playwright and pianist Hershey Felder will present “Louis and Keely ‘Live’ at the Sahara” from Feb. 24 to March 27. The new musical play will feature a live seven-piece band accompanying Tony Award-winner Anthony Crivello and Vanessa Stewart, who will star as 1950s and ‘60s American music duo Louis Prima and Keely Smith.
From April 27 through May 22, the Orange County premiere of “Sex and Education” will be presented, followed by the June production of “Buyer & Cellar,” a comedy about the price of fame and the cost of things.
The playhouse will present bonus options for subscribers, including in August “The Official Blues Brothers Revue,” a live concert show with hits from the original movie, and “A Nun for All Seasons,” which includes audience members in the sister’s classroom. “A Snow White Christmas,” a comedic production incorporating modern pop songs, will be presented in December.
Single tickets range from $36 to $66.
Laguna Playhouse is at 606 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach.
