Laguna will be enlivened by the sound of Fete de la Musique on Saturday
Strains of brass bands will float through downtown Laguna Beach during the eighth annual Fete de la Musique on Saturday.
The festival, organized by the Laguna Beach Sister Cities Assn., will draw a variety of singers, dancers and musicians performing at about 35 locations along Forest and Ocean avenues and Coast Highway from 1:30 to 4 p.m. The nonprofit, which has united Laguna Beach with French city Menton, says the intent is to promote the city’s performing arts through live music.
The festivities will also offer face painting and a children’s parade at 12:30 p.m., followed by an opening ceremony with Laguna Beach Mayor Bob Whalen and a French consulate representative.
Croatian violinist Alessandro Tanasache, jazz singer April Walsh and The Budrows, a three-piece band, are among the planned performers.
Fete de la Musique in Laguna Beach is held in conjunction with World Music Day to celebrate the coming of summer. The event originated in France and is celebrated in more than 110 countries and 700 cities.
