Free Medicare plan assistance set

The Council on Aging, Orange County/HICAP Program is sponsoring an enrollment/comparison clinic from noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Susi Q Senior Center, 380 Third St. During the Annual Coordinated Enrollment Period through Dec. 31, individuals on Medicare can evaluate coverage for next year and make changes if needed. This can be very confusing. It also can be almost impossible for those individuals who do not have computers where they can compare plans on the Medicare.gov website. HICAP can help during this free program. Interested individuals will need to bring bottles of their current prescription medications (in a brown paper bag), information on their health plans (plan cards), and the name and address of their current pharmacy. Call (949) 497-2441 for appointment.

Home Instead Senior Care has joined Sea Country Senior Community Center, Our Savior’s Lutheran School and Curves to provide presents to South Orange County seniors who otherwise might not receive a gift this holiday season.

Be a Santa to a Senior has delivered 1.2 million gifts to needy seniors throughout North America over the past six years, according to a press release from Home Instead Senior Care.

“Most people aren’t aware that there are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of seniors in every community who have no family and are alone,” said Joe Sanders, owner of the Home Instead Senior Care office, which serves Laguna Beach. “What’s more, this holiday season finds many older adults struggling to make ends meet.”
