Bargain Festival set at church
Neighborhood Congregational Church will host its annual Bargain Festival from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 28, to raise funds in support of the church’s mission and ministry work and the Laguna Beach Resource Center. Church volunteers have already begun collecting donations of clothing and shoes, household items, furniture, children’s toys and supplies, collectibles, antiques, and electronics.
Donations are welcome throughout these next two weeks, as volunteers sort and label the many items. Next week, volunteers will begin transforming every corner of the church facility into a shopping mall, complete with designer clothing in the “women’s boutique,” a children’s department, an electronics room, bargain clothing room, tools, sporting goods, and a furniture area in the church parking lot. Preparation is time-consuming, but fills the church halls with laughter and friendship as workers perform the many tasks to make the Bargain Festival a success.
The event is free and filled with bargains for purchase at reasonable prices. Lunch will be available for purchase. Additional “end of day” bargains begin after lunch, and include the bargain clothing room’s annual “stuff a bag” sale. Free parking is available in the church lot between Cleo Street and St. Ann’s Drive on Glenneyre Street.
Proceeds will benefit the church’s outreach and mission work both here and abroad, with a portion of the proceeds also going directly to the Laguna Beach Resource Center. This summer, the Resource Center is again providing for an unprecedented number of families and individuals in needs of food and basic assistance. When the Resource Center’s dire need for additional funding came to the attention of Neighborhood Church, leaders agreed immediately that it was time to share the fundraising success of the church’s annual “100-family garage sale” with the Resource Center.
For more information or to donate items, contact the church office at (949) 494-8061. The church is at 340 St. Ann’s Drive.
