Find Arty for Art-A-Fair’s anniversary

Art-A-Fair is celebrating its 45th anniversary Sunday with free admission and special events.

“Arty,” Art-A-Fair’s anniversary character, will be hidden on the grounds every hour, and the first person to find him will win an art prize.

Visitors can also enjoy live Caribbean music by Upstream and smooth jazz by Rideshare.

Sunday’s art workshop on collage will be taught by juried artist Agnes Copeland. The two-hour class will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 1 to 3 p.m. Cost is $30 for one session or $45 for both.

Festival of Arts gets ‘Bold and Beautiful’

Daytime drama will mix with nighttime Saturday at the Festival of Arts.

Cast members from the CBS soap opera “The Bold and the Beautiful” will appear at the festival from 7 to 8 p.m. to meet fans, take photos and sign autographs before attending a performance of the Pageant of the Masters.

Scheduled to attend are John McCook, Heather Tom, Don Diamont and Scott Clifton.

Additional celebrity meet-and-greets at this year’s festival include the cast of “Criminal Minds” from 7 to 8 p.m. Aug. 20 and actress Camryn Manheim from 3 to 4 p.m. Aug. 27.

Auction funds to help local artists

The Sawdust Art Festival will hold the Artists’ Benevolence Fund art auction from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday on the main entertainment deck.

Sawdust exhibitors have donated their art for the auction, and the money raised will go toward helping working artists in Laguna who are experiencing financial difficulties because of illness or a natural disaster.

After the December floods, the Artists’ Benevolence Fund gave out more than $30,000 to suffering artists.

Julia Knight at home and garden store

Home décor designer Julia Knight will appear from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Stephen Frank Garden & Home.

The store sells a wide selection of her products, including glassware and serving pieces.

Guests can meet Knight and have her personalize any of her items. Customers who buy something of Knight’s before and at the event will receive a gift with purchase.

Champagne and hors d’oeuvres will be offered.

Photographers rule at Artist Eye

An artist reception for photographer Al Gerk will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 13 at Artist Eye Laguna Gallery, 1294-A S. Coast Hwy.

Gerk’s photos will be on display at the gallery through August. After retiring from a career as a scientist and engineer, Gerk returned to his first love: photography.

Also, the gallery is hosting photographer Kathy B. Shapiro as its guest artist for August. She specializes in contemporary fine art photography.
