SUNDAY: Rosalind Russell, “Goat Lady of Laguna Beach,” will present her work on women in Nepal at 9 and 11 a.m. at the Center for Spiritual Living Capistrano Valley, 32261 Camino Capistrano No. D105, San Juan Capistrano. Russell gives groups of 25, mixed caste women 50 pregnant and one breeder goat, with micro-financing to increase their ability to support their families in rural villages where women do not and cannot earn an income. Work The Runway
The Festival Runway Fashion Show, a take off of “Project Runway,” will feature talented Festival of Arts artists’ eco-friendly fashion designs, a deejay spinning tunes as the models strut down the runway and three top judges. Festival artists as a group or as individuals have been given the challenge of creating an outfit out of at least 80% recycled materials. They will face a panel of celebrity judges. At 1:30 p.m. is the Runway Fashion Show. From 2 to 3 p.m., artists present their ensemble in the center green for evaluation. The models take the catwalk again and the winners are announced at 3:30 p.m. Festival admission prices are $7 for general admission and $4 for seniors and students. Laguna Beach residents, military personnel with identification and children younger than 12 receive free admission. Food Group Potluck
The community is invited for a potluck celebrating the first anniversary of the Transition Laguna Beach Food Group from 4 to 8 p.m. at 487 Shadow Lane. Attendees ought to bring their favorite dish, maybe using something from their garden, and a favorite beverage. To reduce the need to recycle, attendees should bring their own plates and utensils. The food group has about 40 “victory” gardens and subgroups that educate, share food, make art gardens, and bring seniors and kids together. Writing Workshop
Laguna Beach Books will host a writing workshop titled “Starting From Scratch: The Art of Storytelling” from 1 to 5 p.m. Marjorie Robertson will lead the workshop, which aims to help participants move forward with their writing.
