Jones to address Unitarians
Joie Jones, longtime Laguna Beach resident and member of the United Nations Special Committee for New Technologies and the Environment, will address the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Laguna Beach at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Through the work of the United Nations group to which he belongs, several engineering and scientific developments which have the potential for reversing the effects of global warming have been supported. Jones will discuss how long term-planning is discouraged in favor of short-term achievements tied to election cycles and how this represents a stumbling block to progress. Afterward, the Social Action Committee of the Fellowship will serve a “sandwich lunch,” proceeds of which are used to provide meals for the needy. The fellowship is at 429 Cypress Drive.
