Make Your Own Sea Lion
Laguna Outreach for Community Arts is hosting an Art and Sea Lions class from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Canyon. Participants will take home a miniature sea lion sculpture, go on a docent-led tour of the center, and see sea lions undergoing rehabilitation. Ceramics expert Jan Sattler will lead the sculpture class. Cost is $20 for adults and $15 for children 6 or older. Advance registration is required. Cooking Class
Laguna Culinary Arts, 845 Laguna Canyon Road, hosts a cooking class centered around sweet and savory tarts at 10 a.m. The menu includes goat cheese and walnut tart; new potato and asparagus tart on dill pastry crust; salmon, dill and Parmesan tart with pickled cucumber; blueberry lemon cloud tartlets; and fleur de sel chocolate caramel tart. Grief Recovery Group
Laguna Presbyterian Church is offering an eight-week support group to help find ways to cope with the loss through death. The group, led by Jackie Pearson and the grief support team, is from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the Church Parlor at Forest Avenue and Second Street. There is a one-time materials fee of $25. Food Gardening
Horticulturist Steve Hampson, “edible gardener extraordinaire” and plant buyer at Roger’s Gardens, will speak at the general meeting of the Laguna Beach Garden Club at 10:30 a.m. at the Neighborhood Congregational Church, 340 St. Ann’s Drive. He will discuss what, where, and when to plant, prune and harvest, along with personal tips and tricks for everything edible in the garden, including soil preparation, using home-made compost, dormant fruit tree spray treatments, and new vegetable varieties. Festival Of Arts ‘Preview 2011’
“Preview 2011” is Festival of Arts’ new free exhibit at the Wells Fargo, 260 Ocean Ave. Fourteen of the 28 exhibitors will have their artwork on display.
