In The Arts
The Laguna Art Museum on Sunday will present a panel discussion corresponding with one of its two current exhibitions, “The Postwar Era: From the Collection, 1945-80.”
According to a news release from LAM, art historian Paul Karlstrom and art critic Hunter Drohojowska-Philp will be the featured panelists at a 1 p.m. program titled “Rethinking the Birth of Art in Southern California.”
The exhibition, which features art pieces from the museum’s collection created during the postwar years until 1980, is a LAM-specific offshoot of “Pacific Standard Time,” a regional initiative among Southern California museums and art institutions focusing on the region’s contribution to American visual arts from 1945 till 1980.
“The Postwar Era” show runs through April 29 at LAM, 307 Cliff Drive, Laguna Beach. Admission to the panel session is free for LAM members as well as nonmembers who pay for a $7-general admission ticket. The museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Crystal Cove art show postponed
The Crystal Cove Alliance Art Council has postponed an art show and sale that was originally scheduled for Sunday because of rain in the forecast. The new dates for the show — at the Education Commons in Crystal Cove State Park’s Historic District, off Coast Highway in Newport Coast — are March 24 and 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
The show, titled “As Time Goes By,” will showcase artwork depicting the landscape around Crystal Cove from how it looked from the turn of the previous century till the modern day, CCAA officials said in a news release. All of the works will be available for purchase, including some inspired by historical photographs.
The release noted that a portion of the proceeds will benefit restoration, conservation and educational programming at the state park.
Visitors to the art show can park their vehicles in the Crystal Cove/Los Trancos lot on Coast Highway across from the main entrance to the park, and walk for seven minutes or take a shuttle to its historic district, the release noted. For more information, call (949) 376-6200.

The Pacific Symphony will be taking submissions of artwork around this theme, to be considered for public display, from artists working in all mediums, the Pacific Symphony officials announced in a news release.
