You probably spend a lot of time in your kitchen. For that reason alone, it needs to be a place that makes you happy. They say “the kitchen is the heart of the home.” We are going to teach you how to take care of that heart, and take pride in your home.
Check out all our storage recommendations below!
Minimize your cupboard
The first step to loving your kitchen again is to get rid of the things you don’t use. If there are only two of you living in your home, you probably don’t need 15 knives, forks, and spoons. Also, clear out your cupboards. Is there a bag of dried lentils at the back of your cupboard you haven’t used because it takes so long to prepare them? Do your good deed for the day and take the food you won’t use to a local food bank or soup kitchen.
Food storage containers
Once you have minimized, you are ready to organize.
Food storage containers are a must. Whatever storage container you choose should be transparent. This helps you see how much food is left. This is a great way to prevent food waste as you will not buy more of something you already have fully stocked.
If you are health conscious but lack the desire to indulge in convenience food due to a lack of time and energy, making bulk meals is an excellent way to marry easy-eating and health. You can cook a healthy nutritious meal in a large pot and separate it into containers for the week. Putting a portion size into each container will help if you struggle with portion control. You can freeze these meals or keep them in the refrigerator depending on how long you want them to last.
You can also use these food storage boxes as lunch boxes and take a variety of foods like pasta salad or soup to work.

Rubbermaid Brilliance Food Storage Containers
Rubbermaid Brilliance Food Storage Containers come in a variety of sets and sizes and stack well. Apart from the lid, they are completely transparent, allowing you to clearly see how much food you have left. The airtight seal is very effective and “clicks” when it is closed properly.
Brilliance Food Storage containers are dishwasher, microwave, and freezer safe. They cost around $40 (for the 24-pack) so they are not the cheapest food container on the market, but in this instance, you certainly get what you pay for.
PRUTA Food Containers
IKEA's PRUTA Food Containers are a great set of food containers for those on a budget. They come in a variety of sizes and for a budget product, they look good. They have brightly colored lids that can complement the decor of your kitchen. They stack well and the lids close securely. However, because they need to be clicked down all the way around we don’t recommend using these to store soup. PRUTA Food Containers are dishwasher, microwave, and freezer safe. At only $6 PRUTA Food Containers are great value for money.
Tea boxes
If you drink a lot of hot beverages, you may want to purchase a tea box. This is an excellent way to store your teabags, keeping them fresh. This stops your kitchen from getting overcrowded with teabag containers. These boxes also prevent pesky black tea particles from spreading around your kitchen. Tea boxes are beautiful additions to any home decor, as well as being a great organizer. They come in all shapes and designs. Some are even collectible items.
The Apace Living Luxury Wooden Tea Storage Chest is a great option. It is made from Rosewood and looks and feels both durable and elegant. It has a scratch-resistant window and 8 adjustable compartments. This beautiful, antique-looking tea box can hold up to 120 tea bags comfortably. Costing about $50, the Apace Living Luxury Wooden Tea Storage Chest is not cheap. However, it has 90% 5-star reviews on Amazon and will last a lifetime.
